After being told that the reason our Nissan Altima would not start was due of a faulty brake pedal switch, which the dealer said would cost over $600 to fix, we inquired further and found that the failed $6 part could be replaced for $212 and the car would start. However, the dealer told us that if they did not replace the wiring harness for the brake switch, $400, the switch might fail again.
That is a threat isn't it?
We opted for the $212 repair that included labor, the failed $6 part, diagnosis, labor and tax, way too much.
This is a prime example of why dealers have such a terrible reputation isn't it?We feel ripped off but had no alternative because our car had been towed to the dealer.
